Ham & Cheese Pinwheels
The ham or bacon and cheese pinwheel is a favorite in my household. It’s hard to get these packed and into the freezer without them all disappearing before they get there. And they certainly don’t make their way back home when packed in a school lunch.
The pinwheels in this recipe are easy to make and provide great fun when you involve the children in their construction. Aside from burning or under-cooking them, they are pretty hard to get wrong too.
Ingredients
1 sheet of ready-rolled puff pastry
1/3 cup of grated cheese
2 tablespoons ketchup (tomato sauce)
½ teaspoon dried oregano
60g diced ham or bacon
Lets Get Baking!
Put the sheet of pastry on a big chopping board.
Spread the ketchup over the pastry, sprinkle with the oregano, bacon and cheese.
Roll up the pastry into a tight roll. Wrap in plastic wrap. Put roll into the fridge for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Grease a baking tray.
Take roll out. Cut into slices about 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide.
Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
Leave on a wire rack allow to cool.
